It's Lana's 5th Birthday and she decided on a Hello Kitty theme. She had me slaving away in the kitchen all week creating cakes, cake pops, and cookies. Lana also wanted a variety of flavors. The heart cake is half chocolate, half strawberry, and the Hello Kitty cake is vanilla. The heart cake is decorated with butter cream icing and the Hello Kitty cake was covered with fondant. How did I get that perfect bow? It was easy, I just melted candy melts, poured them in the bow section of the cake pan, and set it in the fridge for 15 minutes. This perfect bow easily popped out, what a great finishing touch.
These cake pops were a labor of love. Mixing the right amount to icing with your cake scraps to make your cake balls is key. Too much icing just doesn't work. I used a little icing to add white chocolate chips for the ears and dipped them in white candy melts. I tried white chocolate but too much dripped off. I then pipped on the eyes, nose, whiskers, and bow with left over icing from my Hello Kitty Cookies.

Spiderman Cake
June 7, 2014
What little boy wouldn't love a spiderman cake? I love the simplicity of this cake and the matching spiderman cookies each child got to take home in their goodie bag. This was a 2 layer 10 in round chocolate cake covered in blue butter cream icing with spiderman's face piped on and outlined with his signature web. I offset the cake on the cake board so I would have room to write the child's name and age. This cake was a huge hit and there wasn't a slice left to take home.

Puppy Birthday Cake
June 1, 2014
I just loved how this puppy cake turned out! It is just adorable and so closely resembles the puppy on the invitation. I made two dome cakes, a small vanilla, and a large chocolate cake. These were covered with a layer of butter cream icing and white fondant. I then cut and added chocolate fondant for the spots, tail, and shaped fondant for the paws, mouth, nose, and eyes. Put it all together and you get the cutest puppy birthday cake. Don't forget about the cookies. Each guest got a choose a puppy, paw print, or bone to take home.

Barbie Mariposa Cake
May 18, 2014
Yes, that is a cake Barbie Mariposa is sitting on. Abby requested a pink and orange two tier cake covered with fondant to look like a flower for Barbie Mariposa to sit on. I made two vanilla cakes and colored them pink and orange. These were stacked and covered with pink fondant and sprayed with a purple mist. I also made butterfly cookies on lollipop sticks for all the guests to enjoy as a favor in their treat bags.

Shark and T-Rex cupcakes!
When a little boy is having a pool party with a shark theme and wants T-Rex to join in the fun too we make it happen. I love the fun combo and these cupcakes were just adorable. The shark fin and T-Rex are made with my homemade butter cream fondant and then set out to harden. I used a mold to make the T-Rex, too cute and also tasty!

4th of July
Here are some fun firework shirts I made for my girls for the 4th of July.
If you want an amazing fireworks display and a concert check out Independence Eve downtown Denver July 3rd each year. We came to civic center park early to grab a lawn spot, packed a picnic dinner and enjoyed a great family evening with a performance by the Colorado Symphony and fireworks!

Lana's 4th Littlest Pet Shop Birthday
This was a fun cake to make for my daughter. I love using new toys as cake toppers. They look great and a little toy with cake goes a long way, though Lana wanted to move these around.
With lots of family and friends in town for the birthday I made this cake for everyone to enjoy. The square 8 in cake was one layer of vanilla and one layer of chocolate cake. The top 6 in cake was two layers of strawberry cake, Lana's choice.
The cake base is covered with purple fondant imprinted with Happy Birthday. This was my first time covering a square cake with fondant, but I think it turned out well. The fondant paw prints are a cute touch and pull the cake together.
Happy 4th Birthday Lana! I can't wait to see what cake you decide on next year. :)
